Kathryn Szallar

My Story

Kathryn Szallar (Zah-ler) has more than a decade of teaching experiences in early childhood, supporting children birth through 1st grade in both public and private school settings. She holds a Master Degree in Early Childhood Education, a certification in online teaching and instruction, Marzano Level 1 Certification, and is currently working towards National Board Certification. Mrs. Szallar is an active member on the advisory team for Every Kid Counts Oklahoma as well as a newly appointed member of the State Textbook Committee. Additionally, she is a member of several professional organizations that support best practices in the classroom: National Association for the Education of Young Children, Oklahoma Association for Early Childhood, and Oklahoma Science Teachers Association.

In April 2020, Mrs. Szallar was nominated by her classroom families and was awarded KOCO’s Teacher of The Month for her responsiveness and support for her students and families during the COVID pandemic. She recognizes a call to action for teachers to meet the needs of families as a partner in learning using ongoing, intentional, and multifaceted approaches to build a community of support for students.

My Approach

Kathryn Szallar is an inspiring presenter who specializes in developmentally appropriate approaches in early childhood education,  engagement strategies, family partnerships, and community building into innovative PD sessions.

 

Kathryn draws on her personal experience to provide a variety of professional development options that are catered to your staff needs.  Session options can inclulde:  choice boards, virtual or in-person work labs, PD Carnivals, blended learning, Flipped PD session, or Genius Bar style PD for your staff.  

 

Kathryn delivers motivational keynotes and small group sessions. She is also available for semester or year long one on one ongoing mentorships for classroom educators and grade level teams.
